Shortly before the official end of the project in February 2026, the entire WaterFarm consortium – including the management teams of Terra Urbana and Rilll – came together for a final project meeting.
The focus of the meeting was a comprehensive review of the project’s development: from the introduction of innovative hydroponic systems at partner schools to the creation of tailored educational materials and the active involvement of students. Another key topic was the outlook for the continuation of the project. Together, the group discussed how WaterFarm’s successes can be sustained and carried forward into new formats. This includes the long-term integration of hydroponics at existing partner schools, the expansion to additional – including international – educational institutions, and the use of specially developed products and services designed for school environments. The final meeting made one thing clear: WaterFarm is not coming to an end – it is evolving. The structures, materials and partnerships that have been created provide a strong foundation to continue embedding urban agriculture in schools and to inspire young people to engage with modern, resource-efficient food production.
